Michael J. O'Connor
Mike
O’Connor’s education includes a BSEE and an MBA. In addition to his
degrees, Mike is a graduate of the US Army War College and has completed
courses at the Defense Acquisition University as well as extensive technical
and managerial training.
Prior to his retirement from Federal Service in 1997,
Mike served as Acting Deputy Director for Technology, Office of the Deputy
Assistant Secretary of the Army (Research & Technology), Washington, DC. In
this position he provided Headquarters, Department of the Army oversight of
a portion of the Army’s Science and Technology program and served as the
primary point of contact for Advanced Concept Technology Demonstrations.
Previous assignments include Technical Director, US Army Electronic Proving
Ground, Fort Huachuca, AZ, and various senior management and engineering
positions with the US Army Information Systems Engineering Command, also at
Fort Huachuca.
While in Federal Service, Mike was a member of the
Army Acquisition Corps (Level III) and the Federal Laboratory Consortium.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE, and a member of AFCEA (past chapter
president), ITEA, and NDIA. Mike’s publications include eight technical
and management articles (1992-2003). He has one patent for an
Electronic Warfare Trainer (co-inventor) and is a recipient of the Secretary
of the Army Award for Outstanding Achievement in Materiel Acquisition.
Mike has been a part of O'Connor Consulting Services
since 1997.
